Spain reopens – to the world

Spain will allow travellers from anywhere in the world, who have been vaccinated against COVID-19, to enter the country from June 7, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced at Madrid’s FITUR international tourism trade fair.

This is provided the travellers present a negative PCR test, except for those from 10 non-EU countries deemed low-risk. These travellers may enter without a negative PCR test from May 24, as long as they have also been vaccinated. The countries are Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, China, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

“They’re welcome – more than welcome – without restrictions nor health controls,” the Prime Minister told reporters. He noted that the return of tourism would be the key driver of Spain’s economic recovery, according to Reuters.
